"From Victims 2 Victors"
Barb Stegemann, author of "The 7 Virtues of the
Philosopher Queen," hosted an inspiring evening in honour of the
International Day of the Family. From Victims 2 Victors featured
musical performances by Juno Award winner Jully Black, a
presentation by Gemini Award Winning Film maker and peace activist,
Nelofer Pazira, presentations by military officials and more. The
guest of honour was Captain Trevor Greene, who, while serving in
Afghanistan was struck in the head with an axe while sitting with
Afghan villagers discussing how to bring clean water to their homes.
The audience greeted Captain Greene with a standing ovation as he
came out on the stage, with his fiancè Debbie Lepore by his side.
His recovery to date is nowhere short of miraculous. He addressed
the crowd of over 500 people with an inspiring message of
forgiveness and healing. Captain Greene spoke of the struggles in
Afghanistan, his firm belief in Canada's mission there, and our duty
